Daniel’s
area of expertise lies in the assessment, treatment and therapy of a multitude
of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, grief and loss,
trauma, family conflict and relationship/interpersonal difficulties.
In his time as a psychologist, Daniel has developed extensive experience in working with adolescents and their families, using a systems based approach to encourage change and growth both in the individual as well as the family unit. He has spent considerable time working with adolescent boys and men across the lifespan and is a strong advocate for increasing awareness of well-being challenges for males.
Daniel’s thoughtful, considered and person-centred approach in working with individuals and families allows them to feel at ease and safe in discussing deeply personal and confronting issues. He is attuned to both the vulnerabilities and courage that individuals bring to therapy, and seeks to validate and draw on these qualities.
Daniel uses an eclectic range of therapeutic practices, utilising his experience and training in systemic family therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) Interpersonal therapy (IPT), narrative therapy and mindfulness. His continued interest in family therapy, neuroscience and trauma informed practices, guide his commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning in the field of psychology. Daniel takes a collaborative approach in supporting clients and had developed strong working relationships with allied health professionals, GP’s and schools in the hills area.
Outside of psychology, Daniel has a keen interest in following and playing soccer, exploring natural and idyllic spots along the coast through his love of camping, and spending time with his two boys, family and friends.
